Fresh Start: A Proper Laundry Space for Rescued Girls
Project Overview:
The current laundry area at AKOS Safehouse lacks proper infrastructure, causing challenges for the girls, especially during the rainy season. Clothes are often hung in muddy conditions, and washing is done in an inefficient space with limited access to clean running water. This project aims to install a well-organized laundry system, ensuring hygiene, efficiency, and durability.
Objectives:
Install sturdy, anchored metal posts with multiple clotheslines to accommodate high laundry volume.
Create a stable ground surface using patio stones or gravel to prevent standing in mud.
Establish a dedicated washing area with access to clean running water near the laundry lines.
Estimated Budget:
Total Cost (Gravel Option): ~$1,142.00 CAD [2,085,000 TZS]
Total Cost (Patio Stone Option): ~$2,885.00 CAD [5,265,000 TZS]
Conclusion: This project will significantly improve laundry conditions for the girls at AKOS Safehouse, providing a clean, organized, and efficient washing and drying space. If funding is limited, the project can start with the gravel option and later upgrade to patio stones as additional support becomes available. We appreciate any contributions to help make this a reality for the girls.
