Rick is a Computer Engineering Technologist, Project Management Professional, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in IT. Based in Shinyanga, Tanzania, he works closely with Agape Frontiers, providing IT support, facility management, and project oversight for AKOS school.

As the local representative for AKOS Foundation Canada, Rick directs resources and manages projects, combining his technical expertise, advanced construction knowledge, and climate and human rights training to create sustainable solutions.

Beyond his professional skills, Rick is a professional driver and an incredible cook, bringing both practicality and heart to his work. His true passion lies in the welfare of the girls at AKOS, ensuring they have the support, safety, and opportunities needed to build brighter futures.

Dan Gustafson is a Professional Technologist in Engineering (PTech) and an engineer at ABB. His passion for Africa began years ago with a life-changing journey, traveling overland from South Africa to Spain. This experience sparked a lifelong commitment to supporting the next generation through education, improving living conditions, and fostering a brighter future.

Dan brings both technical expertise and a compassionate heart to AKOS Foundation Canada. Alongside his wife, Ruma—who also serves on the board—he is dedicated to helping the girls at AKOS, ensuring they have the support and resources needed to thrive.

When he’s not working or volunteering, Dan enjoys life on his ranch, embracing the outdoors with Ruma and their two wonderful children. His leadership and generosity play a vital role in advancing AKOS’s mission and making a lasting impact.

Dr. Rosanne Woods holds a Doctorate in Health Sciences and brings her expertise to AKOS Foundation Canada by focusing on enhancing the nutrition and overall well-being of the girls at AKOS school. In addition to her health-focused work, Rosanne supports digital initiatives that connect Canadians to AKOS projects, fostering greater engagement and support to improve the girls’ lives and future opportunities.

Ronald Harvey, a former RCMP officer, played a key role in initiating support for AKOS school in Tanzania. His dedication to the girls’ welfare now extends to AKOS Foundation Canada, where he contributes to the foundation’s growth and development, helping to strengthen its impact and support for vulnerable girls.

Ruma Gustafson, a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), brings valuable financial expertise to AKOS Foundation Canada. With experience at the Heart & Stroke Foundation, she ensures the foundation maintains transparency and regulatory alignment, adhering to CRA guidelines. Ruma’s dedication helps secure the financial integrity needed to support AKOS school and its mission to improve the lives of vulnerable girls.
